Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) Policy

Purpose

This policy explains how Secure Chain identifies and handles engagements involving Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) and their close associates.

Who is a PEP

A PEP is an individual who holds, or has held, a prominent public function, together with certain family members and known close associates. Such individuals can present a higher risk of bribery and corruption, so they warrant additional care.

Enhanced due diligence

Where a client is identified as a PEP, we apply enhanced due diligence. This may include establishing the source of funds relevant to the matter, additional identity verification, and senior sign-off before we proceed.

Balanced approach

Being a PEP does not by itself prevent someone from using our services. Our aim is proportionate additional scrutiny, applied fairly, so that legitimate clients are supported while risk is properly managed.
