Purpose
Secure Chain is committed to preventing its services from being used to launder the proceeds of crime. This policy summarises the measures we take to identify and manage money-laundering risk.
Our commitments
We apply a risk-based approach to every engagement, consistent with the principles of the UK Money Laundering Regulations and the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.
In practice this means we:
- Verify the identity of clients before beginning substantive work (see our KYC Policy)
- Assess the source and nature of each case for money-laundering red flags
- Decline or discontinue engagements where we cannot satisfy ourselves as to legitimacy
- Maintain records of identity checks and case assessments
- Report suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities where legally required
Reporting
Where we are required by law to make a disclosure to the relevant authorities, we will do so. In such circumstances we may be prevented by law from informing the client of that disclosure.
